LCO or LOC Method on Natural Hair
The LOC method stands for Liquid, Oil, and Cream. This method refers to the order in which you are to apply your hair products to your hair in order to increase moisture retention and ultimately promote longer hair growth.
With LCO, it’s as simple as just switching the procedures around to Liquid, Cream, Oil.
Both work the same, it’s just that some naturals prefer one over the other depending on how they agree with how well their hair responds. You can try both and decide for yourself. But for demonstration purposes, we will discuss the LCO method. Feel free to switch to the LOC method as needed.
Now you may allow to air dry or twist and wrap up until your hair dries. Continue to do either the LCO or LOC method as needed every few days or every week. Your hair will let you know when it’s ready for it again. Play around with your hair to learn more about how it likes to be treated with this method. Enjoy!
LIQUID: Water = Moisture. PERIOD. So the goal is to have your hair soaked in it for optimal moisture intake.
It’s also ok to use a water-based product or spray water on the hair in between wash days as needed. A good form of this would be a leave in conditioner with water as its first or second ingredient.
For a refresher or daily moisturizing mist, we like to spray our hair with water or 100% Aloe Vera Juice.
You may use a water based product as your Liquid such as a water based leave in conditioner like Milkshake Leave In Conditioner. Many people do this. However, we wouldn’t recommend substituting. We suggest using water and later using your leave in.
CREAM: Section hair in 4 separate sections. Gradually apply to each section at a time. Apply a cream or creamy moisturizer to seal in all the goodness into your hair. Your styling cream will also give your hair definition. We recommend using the racking or shingling method with your fingers as a comb to get the product in all spots of the hair.
We use our Milkshake Leave In Conditioner to moisturize with. If you already used this as your liquid, I suggest using our Cake Cake Moisturizing Hair Ice Cream as your cream. This gives your hair that added moisture that is needed. You may also use Cake Cake combined with Milkshake to maximize your moisture intake.
OIL: Choose an oil to seal in the moisture you just added to your hair with the presence of the liquid based conditioner. You will section the hair off in the same 4 sections as before and gently coat the hair using very little oil at a time. Not much is needed. Just enough to coat the hair and act as a sealant of the moisture. We find the best oils to use for the LCO/LOC Method are oils that can penetrate the shaft such as Olive oil, Coconut oil, and Avocado oil.
Since Sweet Tea Hair Growth Juice has all of that in one it would be the perfect end to this method for you.
